Drama is another one of the layers. Of course not all the scenes are written in this scenario, for God must adapt to the choices that are made. Haught's theology is process-oriented. He makes wide use of Whitehead, Hartshorne and Tillich. Humans play a significant role in the evolutionary process. Drama allows creation the freedom to work in relationship with the creator.
If Christians wish to join in the scientific conversation, they need resources like this one. Evolutionary science and theology need not be done in isolation.
Making Sense of Evolution (Paper)
Interesting essay that made me want to read this book--I find the concept of a theology of evolution compelling. As a nurse, I consider myself to be, to some degree, a scientist by trade. I was admitting a year old woman to our unit last week. Follow-up questions would have included if she had any beliefs pertaining to health or her care and if she wanted to see a chaplain.
Haught suggests that, rather than necessarily contradicting one another, theologians and Darwinian scientists actually share an appreciation of the underlying meaning and awe-inspiring mystery of evolution. He argues for a focus on evolution as an ongoing drama and suggests that we simply cannot-indeed need not-make complete sense of it until it has fully played out. Ultimately, when situated carefully within a biblical vision of the world as open to a God who makes all things new, evolution makes sense scientifically and theologically. To listen to John F.
